Briget Jones' Diary

Briget Jones' is a hilarious rom-com that entertains all types of audiences. The main characters are Brigit Jone, Mark Darcy and Daneil Cleaver. These two males being the love interests in her life. She spends her time mostly alone apart from the accompany of her embarrising parents (who are also going through a bit of a rough patch) The convention here is that there is a lonely, (dumb blonde) who can't find a boyfriend. However, then she picks her self up slightly and suddenly, two men come along at once. Daneil Cleaver is the one that goes for her first but him being a 'player,' ends up cheating on her, in the mean time, Mark Darcy starts to fall for her. 'Just the way she is.' They then have a fight over her and in the end she chooses Mark. The film is set around Christmas. This is the typical time of year that romantic films are set. Christmas is when you are meant to be with the ones you love and your meant to find romance. But for the doomed Brigit, it's proving hard.

The Orphan

Within this trailor of the horror 'The Orphan,' we see many conventions of the genre. This film is based on a young russian orphan who is adopted by a family who were struggling. Esther- the 9 year old orphan kills Siser Abigail (the head of the orphanage) when she over hears Kate (the Mother) on the phone to her when Sister Abigail is warning her of Esther, saying that Esther seems to be around a lot when things go wrong. Esther creats conflict between Kate and John by breaking her arm and blaming it on Kate as Kate seems to start realising that something is up with Esther. John automatically takes the child side and this leads Kate (Recovered alchololic) to turn to the bottle once more. However, after a strong fight Kate pours the wine down the drain. Esther gets John drunk and tries to seduce him and when he tries to call someone, Esther stabs him to death.
It has the typical conventions of a horror film with the child in the woods. The film covers religion, insanity, evil, childhood issues, revenge and insanity.
In this shot, we see her run mascara and her eyes are red.Red is associated with danger and evil, mirroring what we know about her.Not only does this give the impression that she has been crying, but what is striking about this image is that she shouldn't be wearing make up at the age of 9. This is the kind of thing that older woman do, not 9 year old girls, which is when we question her. This is a Close Up shot emphasising the run make up on her face.

Future?

I'm hoping that from Media Studies, I will learn new angels on how to write. I'm studying English Lit and possibly looking to study it at Uni, and through media studies, I would learn how to interest people with my writing and givea new angel on current affairs. If I do go into journalism, I don't want to be a boring writer, I want to excite my readers, I want to give them something to talk about.

Monsters Inc

Monsters Inc is also one of my perfered films. It's such a funny film and I love the plot to it. I'm really interested in how they came up with the characters and what it took to make them. These are a few of my favourite scences:

Mossbourne's Gig

The whole of my music GCSE class had to put on basically a show case of our work, we had to all come together and perform some ensamble performances.
This is me and my band performing at Bandslam where we came second in Mossbourne's Bandslam. Like I said, Music is a huge feature in my life and for this competition, we wrote our own song. I'm always singing :D

Finding Nemo is one of my favourite films. It's one of those films that I can curl up on the sofa and watch with a cup of tea. And since it's a family film, it's comforting and it's a feel good film. This is one of my favourite moments from the film. For me, Dory is the funniest character in it and makes the film. This clip shows determination and her view on life- just keep going and don't ever give up. Which is then further reflected at the end of the film.
